YogaSource’s 200 Hour Training Program is designed for students who aim to explore the full potential and spectrum of Yoga as a living art, as well as for those who feel a call to become, or explore becoming, a Yoga teacher.

The Vision

YogaSource’s 200-Hour Teacher Training brings the depth of the yoga tradition into conversation with contemporary biomechanics, anatomy, and movement science.

Designed for students who want to explore the full spectrum of yoga as a living practice, the program is equally suited to those who intend to teach and those who simply want to deepen their own practice and understanding.

Drawing on decades of teaching, practice, and study, Wendelin and Amy offer a thoughtful and rigorous nine-month container in which the teachings have time to be practiced, questioned, integrated, and lived.

The YogaSource program lives in the balance between the time-honored and the cutting edge; between the languages of symbol and metaphor and those of anatomy and science; between the roots of the tradition and thoughtful modern innovation.

Who This Training Is For

You do not need to know that you want to become a yoga teacher to benefit from this rich experience.

Some students enter the program with a clear desire to teach. Others come because they are ready to move beyond the weekly class and enter a sustained period of study, practice, and personal inquiry.

This Training is for you if you want to:

  • Deepen your personal yoga practice

  • Understand the philosophy and history behind what you practice

  • Develop a sophisticated understanding of asana, anatomy, and movement

  • Establish or deepen meditation and pranayama practices

  • Learn to teach with skill, confidence, creativity, and integrity

  • Explore yoga as a path of self-knowledge and transformation

The Program

What You’ll Study

Over nine months, you’ll immerse yourself in the origins, philosophy, and practices of yoga within a supportive and inspired environment for experiential, process-based learning.

Self-reflection, self-discovery, personal growth, and transformation are at the heart of our approach. From that foundation, you’ll learn how to share yoga skillfully and responsibly with others.

Our aim is not simply to prepare you to teach. It is to transmit the study and practice of yoga in a way that establishes a lifelong foundation for practice, inquiry, and growth.

The Asanas

Every pose is studied through three lenses: alignment as a map toward the healthy flow of breath and prana, precise action for real therapeutic effect, and the inner awareness that keeps practice from becoming performance.

Stages, levels, and modifications are built in throughout, so every body has a way in.

  • Principles of Asana & the Yoga Tradition

  • A deep dive into each postural family:

    • Standing Postures

    • Sun Salutations

    • Backbends

    • Seated Forward Bends

    • Twists & Sidebends

    • Arm Balances

    • Inversions

Yoga Anatomy

This program offers a dynamic exploration of experiential anatomy, guiding you step by step through how the body moves and functions in yoga asana.

Rather than simply memorizing muscles and bones, you’ll learn to observe movement in real bodies and apply anatomical understanding directly to practice and teaching.

  • Best Practices for Understanding How Muscles & Joints Work

  • Key Anatomical Terminology

  • Feet, Legs, Knees & Hips

  • Spine & Core

  • The Breath

  • Shoulders & Arms

  • Neck & Upper Back

  • Active & Passive Range of Motion

  • End-Range Strength

The Subtle Body

Yoga offers maps of human experience that extend beyond the physical body. We explore these teachings experientially, asking not only what the traditional texts say, but how these maps illuminate our own practice and experience.

  • Prana & the Vayus

  • Nadis

  • Chakras

  • Koshas

  • Granthis

  • Bandhas

  • Mudra

  • Mantra

Sequencing & the Art of Teaching

How do individual poses become an intelligent and meaningful sequence of practice?

You’ll learn how to build classes with intention, from the exploration of a single peak pose to a complete, well-balanced arc. Along the way, you’ll develop the practical skills to communicate clearly and adapt what you teach to the people actually in front of you.

  • Sequencing Principles

  • Classic Frameworks

  • Peak Pose Sequencing

  • The Master Sequencing Template

  • Well-Balanced Sequencing

  • Sequencing for Each Pose Category

  • Keys to Clear & Effective Verbal Cueing

Yoga History & Philosophy

Yoga is more than a collection of techniques. Understanding the ideas, texts, and historical traditions from which the practices emerged gives depth and context to everything we do on the mat.

Study centers on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, including the eight limbs and the Yamas and Niyamas, explored through your own experience rather than simply read on the page. We also investigate other classical texts, philosophical systems, and the diverse streams that have shaped the yoga tradition.

Ethics, inquiry, and self-reflection thread through the entire program.

  • Fundamentals of Yoga Philosophy

  • Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras

  • The Eight Limbs of Yoga

  • The Yamas & Niyamas

  • Timeline & Lineages of Yoga

  • Hatha, Raja, Karma, Bhakti, Jnana & Tantra

  • The Essence and Development of Hatha Yoga

  • Further Classical Texts, including the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Siva Samhita & Gheranda Samhita

  • Equity in Practice, including dedicated exploration of racial and social equity and the creation of more inclusive yoga spaces

Meditation, Pranayama & Restorative Practices

Active asana is one part of yoga.

Throughout the nine months, we explore the subtler practices of breath, meditation, deep rest, sound, and stillness. These practices are not treated as add-ons, but as essential dimensions of an integrated yoga practice.

  • Yoga Nidra

  • Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

  • Mindfulness of the Body

  • Mindfulness of Thoughts

  • Loving Kindness Meditation

  • Pranayama, including Kapalabhati, Viloma, Ujjayi, Bhedana & Nadi Shodhana

  • Guided Meditation & Savasana

  • Holding Space through seated and supine practices

  • Chanting, Invocations & Mantra

  • The Deeper Significance of Om

The Professional Practice of Teaching

For those who intend to teach, we address the practical realities of building a sustainable, ethical, and professional life as a yoga teacher.

  • How Yoga Teachers Are Compensated

  • Operating as an Independent Teacher

  • Finding Teaching Opportunities

  • Preparing for a Teacher Audition

  • Developing & Sustaining a Student Base

  • Consistency, Reliability & Professionalism

  • Marketing & Social Media

  • Teaching Yoga Online

The Experience

This isn’t a crash course. It’s a nine-month immersion.

Yoga takes time to absorb. The extended format allows you to practice between modules, return with questions, integrate what you are learning into your own body and life, and gradually develop the confidence and discernment to share the practice with others.

9 Weekend Modules

Focused study sessions are spread across nine months, giving you time between modules to practice, study, reflect, and integrate.

YogaSource Practice Pass

Attend classes with Wendelin, Amy, and Emily throughout the program, allowing the training to extend beyond the weekend modules and into your ongoing practice.

Experienced Faculty

Led by Amy Spurlock and Wendelin Scott, with specialist faculty contributing their expertise in key areas of study.

Mentorship & Community

We feel it is vital for serious students and teachers of Yoga to have a solid foundation in human anatomy and physiology as it is related to the actions and alignment of asana. Our program offers a dynamic dive into experiential anatomy guiding you step by step through how our wonderful human bodies move and function, especially in regards to Yoga Asana. Subtle, or energetic, anatomy will also be included in the curriculum providing essential knowledge of the pranic body within Yoga practice.

How You'll Learn

Our aim isn't to hand you a script. It's to help you develop the knowledge, discernment, and confidence to find your own authentic voice as a teacher.

The approach is clear, practical, experiential, and grounded in the realities of the students you'll actually meet.

Teaching begins early and continues throughout the program. You’ll practice observing, cueing, sequencing, modifying, demonstrating, and teaching in a supportive environment where there is room to experiment, receive feedback, and grow.

Practicum hours go beyond Yoga Alliance requirements so that, by graduation, standing in front of a room feels familiar rather than intimidating.

Path to Certification

Certification is based not simply on completing hours, but on active engagement with the full process of the training.

  • Show up. Attend all required modules and immersions.

  • Practice. Maintain an engaged personal practice throughout the training.

  • Do the work. Complete the required reading, writing, assignments, and preparation.

  • Participate. Bring your questions, observations, and experience into class discussions and small-group work. Your participation contributes not only to your own learning, but to the growth of the whole group.

  • Learn to adapt. Develop the ability to modify practices skillfully for your own body and for the varied needs of your students.

  • Teach. Put what you have learned into practice through ongoing teaching exercises and a final led practice shared with classmates, friends, and community.

Ready to Begin?

You do not need to arrive as an expert, and you do not need to arrive certain that you want to teach.

You need curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to practice.

Over nine months, we will study yoga from the inside out: through the body, the breath, the teachings, the community, and your own lived experience.

Whether this training becomes the beginning of your life as a teacher or a profound deepening of your own practice, the intention is the same: to make yoga something you know not only intellectually, but through experience.

  • "My YogaSource YTT experience was genuinely life-changing, giving me new, embodied ways to serve my community, deepen my psychotherapy practice, and widen the scope of what I offer. I’m especially grateful for teachers who grounded our training in cultural awareness, yoga’s history, philosophy and ethics, and trauma-informed practice, and for the entirely new path and community it opened for me, both as a practitioner and a teacher. "

  • "YogaSource’s teacher training was such a beautiful and transformative experience for me. I grew in ways I didn’t expect, and feel like I truly blossomed into a version of myself I had been gently working toward for a long time. The technical teachings around alignment and practice were incredibly precise and invaluable, while the instructors brought so much compassion, warmth, and knowledge to every part of the training. I’m so grateful for the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their practice or explore the path of teaching."

  • "I was more than satisfied with the 200 hour teacher training course at Yoga Source Santa Fe.  The expertise of the primary instructors and the guest teachers was exceptional, and the required reading was enlightening.  I would recommend the program to any person wanting to expand their knowledge of the eight limbs, whether for personal growth or to pursue a teaching position."
