KAREN SCHOTTER
When Karen was introduced to YOGA, she knew that this was a tradition she wanted to explore in-depth. She graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Religion, the concentration of her studies in Hindu and Buddhist Philosophies. Karen started her YOGA journey studying the alignment-based systems of Iyengar and Anusara. Then, introduced to the flow practices of Ashtanga and Vinyasa, Karen continued her studies for many years under the guidance of Richard Freeman. Karen still studies with Iyengar and Vinyasa teachers and travels periodically to Thailand to study with Richard. She is ever grateful for the gifts each system has given her. Her classes are a synergy of different traditions, instructed at an unhurried pace, with great emphasis on alignment and breath. Her teaching is expressive and joyful, creating a lighthearted atmosphere where students of all levels can explore their own abilities. Karen has been practicing and teaching YOGA for over 20 years and holds the YOGA ALLIANCE E500 designation.
